Burmese Army tweet shows James Anderson celebrating the wicket of Virat Kohli Jr in 2050

Veteran England pacer James Anderson put up a stellar performance in the first Test against India at Trent Bridge. The pacer took four crucial wickets and registered a record with his high-class bowling. The most talked about four dismissals is the wicket of Indian captain Virat Kohli. The English talismanic bowler dismissed Kohli for a golden duck in the first Test match, which ended in a draw.

Undoubtedly, Anderson is a rare breed of fast bowler hitting it all at the age of 39. He celebrated his birthday last week. His age-defying on-field action Experts think Anderson can play the purest format of cricket for a year or two. However, a recent tweet shared by England’s Burmese Army envisions Anderson celebrating a wicket in 2050.

The official handle of England’s popular fan base tweeted a morphed picture of an older looking Anderson. “The year is 2050 and Jimmy Anderson, 68, takes his 1500th Test wicket off the first ball of Virat Kohli Jr.,” the tweet read.

The post left users of the micro-blogging site divided. Others, notably, Indian cricket fans, were extremely unhappy. A section of fans slammed Page for insulting the Indian captain.

In the lead-up to the ongoing Test series, Anderson tried to cut short his protracted battle with one of the world’s leading batsmen. Starting in 2014, the England bowler dismissed Kohli four times in five Test matches in that series. Later when India toured the UK in 2018, Kohli responded by putting Anderson in the submission. The pacer failed to get the Indian captain out even once as a mountain of runs piled up in the latter. Kohli’s seven-year-long battle with the veteran pacer has always been a sub-plot of the India vs England series.

This time, the 39-year-old, who dismissed Kohli beautifully, felt it was unusual that it happened so early in the game. At the end of the day’s play, Anderson said, “He’s always been good and today was one of those days where he picked it up.” An animated celebration was held on Anderson’s behalf after the prized-skull was found. He admitted that getting him out on the first ball in the first innings was quite special.
