NEW DELHI: Aman Singh Bisht, the 26-year-old man who was arrested for the murder of a 24-year-old woman in Burari, raped her after strangling her, a probe has revealed. Police said the man first tried to overpower the woman to rape her, but strangled her in a fit of rage.
Cops claimed the accused was a sex maniac and watched porn regularly. Police have added IPC Section 377 (unnatural sex) in the FIR. During interrogation, Bisht disclosed that he was unhappy with his sex life and thought the 24-year-old woman would be an easy target.
TOI was the first to report on Sunday about the woman being sexually assaulted.
DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said, “Bisht claimed his relationship with his wife was in turmoil due to an unsatisfied sexual life. He was taking drugs and virility pills. He was also irked by the taunts of his friends. As he was close to the woman, she became an easy target. Initially, a murder case was registered, but now Section 377 has been added too.”
During interrogation, Bisht said he called the woman on the pretext of getting a sari for his wife and took her to his house.
When she refused his advances, he tried to force himself on her. He used such force on her neck in a fit of rage that she started choking. He then killed her using a blue nylon rope, which was recovered by police.
“He tried to commit the sexual act to leave traces of the activity on the woman. The unnatural sex section was added based on the medical report. Forensic results for certain reports are awaited,” said Kalsi.
Around 8pm on Friday, a woman informed police about the murder in Kaushik Enclave in Burari. The caller, Sangeeta (name changed), said when she arrived home in the evening, she found the body of her childhood friend lying on the floor of the bedroom.
The victim’s mother said her daughter was at home when she got a call from Sangeeta’s husband asking her to go shopping with him. “My daughter told me that Sangeeta’s husband had not gifted her anything on Valentine’s Day, so wanted to buy a sari to surprise her. She left home around 4pm saying she will be back in a short while. He picked her up at the end of our lane. When she did not return home, I asked my younger daughter to call her around 5pm, but her phone was found switched off,” she added.
(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
