Bully Bai a conspiracy to defame India: Naqvi

Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said that there was a conspiracy to defame India and they will never be allowed to succeed, amid the ongoing controversy over ‘Bully by App’ aimed at humiliating Muslim women.

The minister said that the government is taking strict action on the issue and added that such targeting of women is unacceptable. Naqvi said, “It was a cyber communal conspiracy against the composite culture of the country and it will not succeed. Strict action is being taken against the culprits behind this. Their communal conspiracy will be exposed at the earliest.”

He claimed that some people with nefarious designs were behind this conspiracy to defame India but they would never be allowed to succeed.

Union Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said, “GitHub confirmed the user blocking this morning itself. CERT and police officials are coordinating further action.”

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi slammed the government over inaction on the Bulli Bai app targeting women from a particular community and said it is time to speak out against hatred and there should be no fear.

Delhi Police on Monday sought information from social media giant Twitter about the account which had earlier tweeted about the ‘Bully Bye’ app and asked it to remove the objectionable content.

In another development, a 21-year-old engineering student was nabbed in Bengaluru in a raid by a Mumbai Police team in connection with the “bully bye” controversy. The student is being brought to Mumbai, but the police did not give further details.
