Budget 2023 as hit as Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’: BSP MP Hails Sitharaman’s Income Tax Relief

New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Maluk Nagar on Wednesday (February 1, 2023) said that the relief given to the common people in the Union Budget 2023-24 has made it a hit. Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Pathan”, Speaking to news agency PTI, Maluk, Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor, said the income tax relief given in the budget would ensure that more people file income tax returns.

“The relief given to common people in the budget has made it a hit as a ‘Pathan’ film,” Nagar told PTI.

His reaction came after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for 2023-24 in Parliament. Personal income tax exemption limit has been increased to Rs 7 lakh From the financial year starting April 1 under the new tax regime, from the previous Rs 5 lakh.

Tax slabs have been reduced from seven to five. Also, the maximum income tax rate has been brought down from 42.7 per cent to around 39 per cent after reducing the maximum surcharge from 37 per cent to 25 per cent.

Meanwhile, JDU leader Rajeev Ranjan alias Lalan Singh told PTI-language, “There is nothing in this budget and it is like a fairy dream.”
