BSF jawans during the retreat ceremony at Attari border.

The timing of the Retreat Ceremony between India and Pakistan has changed. In Amritsar’s Attari border including Fazilka and Ferozepur, the retreat will now be at 6.30 pm instead of 6 pm. This decision has been taken after the heat rises and the days get longer. These orders have been implemented since last evening.

There are retreat ceremonies between India and Pakistan at three places in the country, in which the soldiers of the Border Security Force of India participate along with the Pakistan Rangers. A large number of tourists from India and abroad arrive to see this retreat ceremony held in Amritsar, Fazlika and Ferozepur districts.

The tomb of the martyrs is near the Hussainiwala border.
The memorials of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev are close to the Hussainiwala border. Till 1962 this area remained with Pakistan and they did not care to build any memorial in the memory of these great martyrs of India who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of both the countries.

It was in 1962, when India had given 12 villages near Sulaimanki (Fazilka) to Pakistan and got land for this martyr’s memorial in return. But the irony of fate is that during the Indo-Pak war of 1971, the idols of these martyrs were taken away by the Pakistan Army and have not been returned till date.
