BRS, AAP to Boycott President’s Address to Parliament

The President addresses the members of both the Houses in the Central Hall of the Parliament on the first day of the session

BRS leader K Keshav Rao has said that his party will boycott the President’s address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament in protest against the BJP-led Centre’s “failure on all fronts of governance”.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also said it would boycott the address.

The President addresses the members of both the Houses in the Central Hall of the Parliament on the first day of the session.

Rao, who is also the leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in the Rajya Sabha, said his party was boycotting “in protest against the failure of the BJP-led NDA government at the Center on all fronts of governance”.

He said that AAP will also join the boycott of BRS.

K Chandrasekhar Rao, the BRS supremo and Chief Minister of Telangana, is eyeing a role for himself in national politics and is working on an alliance of opposition parties.

AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh said, “With all due respect to President Draupadi Murmu, we are boycotting the joint session of Parliament as the government has failed on all fronts and has not fulfilled its promises.”

Both Rao and Singh made it clear that they and their parties respect the President and the office of the President but they are boycotting the address in protest against the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
