Bronnie James, the 18-year-old son of NBA star LeBron James, suffered cardiac arrest during basketball practice at the University of Southern California on Monday, July 24. In a statement, LeBron described his son’s condition as stable and informed the media that Brony was already out of the intensive care unit (ICU).

A statement revealed that Bronie suffered a cardiac arrest while practicing for a college game. LeBron and his wife Savannah have asked for privacy and have informed the media that they will provide an update as more information becomes available.

“Bronnie James suffered a cardiac arrest during practice yesterday. Medical staff were able to treat Bronie and take her to the hospital. “He is now in stable condition and is not in the ICU,” said a statement released by a spokesperson for LeBron and his wife. “We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and will update the media as we have more information. LeBron and Savannah want to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of our athletes.

Broney, rated as a four-star player, will become a freshman for USC’s basketball team this fall after graduating from her high school, Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles. He is considered to have an extraordinary talent like his father and shone in the stands with LeBron at the McDonald’s All-American Game in March.

LeBron, 38, is a four-time NBA champion and five-time MVP winner. The Los Angeles Lakers legend is considered one of the best basketball players in the history of the sport. Last year, he expressed his desire to play his final NBA season with Brown.

“My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Branny is, I’ll be there. I would do anything to play with my son for a year. At that point it’s not about the money,” LeBron said last year.
