BREAKING: ‘No words banned, compilation of words released’, says Birla

New Delhi: Amid the opposition’s outcry over the list of ‘unparliamentary words’, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla clarified that no word has been banned and he has only released a “compilation of deleted words”. “Earlier a book of such unparliamentary words used to be released… To avoid wastage of papers, we have put it on the internet. No words have been banned, we have released a compilation of those words which have been removed,” Om Birla was quoted as saying by ANI.

Responding to the response by the opposition parties, he said, “Have they (opposition) read this 1100-page dictionary (containing unparliamentary words), if they … do not spread the wrong impression … it was released in 1954.” Released on yearly basis since 1986, 1992, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2010…2010.”
