Top Indian American doctor appointed senior advisor to Sloan Kettering Center’s India unit

Top Indian American oncologist Dr Dattatreyadu Nori has been appointed Senior Consultant of the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, Chennai-centre.

Noting that the opening of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from New York in India – the first of its kind outside the United States – is “a big deal,” Dr Nori said receiving cancer treatment and counseling from the world’s best cancer institute Doing this will not only save a large number of lives, but will also help in raising awareness in the fight against the deadly disease.

Recipient of the 2017 Padma Shri award for his contribution to the field of medicine, Dr Nori said he wants to bring the best practices of cancer treatment from the United States to India.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center opened its first overseas center in Chennai last August and Dr Nori was appointed as its Senior Consultant in March this year.

An Indian-American doctor, who recently returned from India after visiting several states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Assam, said the best treatment for cancer should be first aid.
