NoidaAt least three people, including a policeman, were arrested on Sunday and four were injured after two groups clashed during New Year celebrations at a housing society near Noida.
According to the police, the clash broke out around 11:30 pm on Saturday night after a trio tried to forcefully take pictures with two female residents of the society. However, the accused claimed that they were taking selfies and the women were just in the background and it was a case of misunderstanding, an official said.
The video clip of the incident, which allegedly took place at First Avenue Society of Gaur City, also known as Noida Extension, in Greater Noida (West), surfaced on social media, following which no official complaint was received from either side, the official said. Despite not being there, the police had to take action.
An officer from the local Bisrakh police station said, “The women had claimed that the accused were taking photographs of them without their consent and when they told their friends about it, an argument broke out between the two parties, which was followed by a scuffle.” Hui.”
“A police team reached the society soon after it came to know about the incident. Both the parties later reached a settlement and no official complaint was made by either side,” the official said.
Bisrakh police station in-charge Anil Kumar Rajput said that however, the accused were arrested as a preventive measure under section 151 (arrest without order of a magistrate to prevent commission of a cognisable offence) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The accused have been identified as Delhi Police head constables Bharat Singh (40), Jai Singh (32) and Kuldeep (35). All three live in the same society, Rajput said.
