The trailer of Brahmastra was finally released recently and it gave a glimpse of the Ranbir Kapoor-led Astraverse. While the trailer paved the way for many speculations, a section of the audience noticed that Ranbir is seen wearing shoes while he was making his way into the public perception for the temple. Soon, the film faced backlash for it.
Ayan Mukerji, who is the director of Brahmastra, clarified on Instagram that the scene in question is not a temple but a pandal. “There were some people in our community who were upset because of a shot in our trailer – Ranbir’s character who rings the bell and wears shoes. As a producer (and a devotee) of this film, I am humbled by what happened here. Wanted to address that. In our film, Ranbir is not entering the temple but entering the Durga Puja pandal,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
“My own family has been organizing similar Durga Puja celebrations for 75 years! One that I have been a part of since childhood. In my experience, we only take off our shoes, right on the platform where the deity is, not when you enter the pandal. It is personally important to me that I reach out to anyone who might be disturbed by this image… because above all, Brahmastra is made as a film experience that honors and honors Indian culture, traditions and history. Celebrates. That’s why I made this film, so it’s very important for me that this sentiment reaches every Indian who is watching Brahmastra!” he added.
Brahmastra stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead. The film marks their first film together. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and more Mouni Roy in important parts. Brahmastra also has a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan, his first big screen project since the release of Zero.
