Boy who raised hate slogans at PFI rally was educated: Kerala Police

Officials said a boy allegedly picked up provocative slogans During the Popular Front India (PFI) had trained to rally in Kerala on May 21.

In the remand report submitted before the court, the police said that the child was tutored by PFI Pallurathi division president Shamir and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) secretary Sudhir NY, affiliated to Thrippunithura Mandalam group, both accused in the case.

The boy’s father, Askar Latif, who was also arrested by the police, had reportedly helped him. According to the report, the child raised the slogans at the rally with the information of his father who is an active member of PFI.

“Sudhir is a friend of the child’s father and visits their house regularly. He is the one who encouraged the child to raise these provocative slogans,” says the remand report.

A total of 26 people have been arrested so far after a video of a boy sitting on the shoulder of a man and purportedly raising communal slogans during a PFI rally. Alappuzha spread rapidly.

“Though the law states that children should not be used for such illegal activities, accused 24 to 27 (father of the boy) along with other accused used the child for rioting and raising provocative slogans with an intent to create communal enmity. did. The father allowed the child to participate in it,” said the remand report submitted before the Alappuzha First Class Judicial Magistrate Court.

The PFI had earlier said in an internal note made available to the media that such slogans were against the organization’s policy and would look into the matter.

“We have given approved slogans which were to be raised at the public rally in Alappuzha. Thousands of party workers and others joined the rally in protest against the RSS. The scene of a boy shouting slogans now came to our notice. Those slogans were neither approved nor approved by the organizers of the rally. PFI state secretary CA Raof said in the note that raising or provoking provocative slogans is not the organization’s policy.
