Yash may have gained fame and popularity after his stellar performance in the IPL 2022 season, but he was not an unknown figure in the Indian cricket circuit.

The courageous nature of Gujarat Titans pacer Yash Dayal came into limelight in his debut Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rajasthan Royals. Yash was hit by Jos Buttler for two fours and a six within four balls, but the 24-year-old never lost his confidence. Yash eventually managed to take three wickets in the match and secured a 37-run victory. And Yash doesn’t forget to give credit to Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya. He feels that Pandya is a “bowler’s captain” and his presence boosts a bowler’s confidence.

“He [Hardik] Very calm and confident, and he knows what to do at what point in the game. He is the captain of a bowler. If you believe in yourself, he lets you make your own decisions. This boosts the confidence of the bowler even more. I would say he is the best captain I have ever played,” Yash told ESPNcricinfo.

“Ashish Nehra was like a blessing to me. Even though I was leaking runs, the team management saw my intention and supported me for that and played me till the final. And I tried to give my best in every game,” he added.

In IPL In the 2022 season, the Uttar Pradesh-born bowler played nine matches and managed to take 11 wickets. In the final match against Rajasthan Royals, Yash took the crucial wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal and conceded just 18 runs after bowling three overs. Eventually, Gujarat went on to win the summit clash by seven wickets to win the IPL trophy for the first time.

Yash may have gained fame and popularity after his stellar performance in the IPL 2022 season, but he was not an unknown figure in the Indian cricket circuit.

In the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22 season, he picked up 14 wickets at an economy rate of just 3.77. In the 2018-19 season, he made his first-class debut and in that season Yash took 30 wickets at an average of 24.70 in the Ranji Trophy. His stellar performances in domestic cricket helped him secure a deal worth 3.20 crores in the mega IPL auction ahead of the 2022 season.
