Boutique airline to launch all-business class Tel Aviv-Paris-New York flights

A plane belonging to boutique airline La Compagnie first landed in Israel last week, ahead of the launch of its Tel Aviv-Paris-New York line, where all 76 seats are business class.

The route is scheduled to launch on September 5, although it may be delayed due to global coronavirus restrictions.

When it launches, Israelis will be able to travel to New York (via Paris) for $2,000, which the airline says is 30 percent cheaper than other business class options. They can even go to Paris for $1,100.

The French company – which says it can offer lower prices because it is smaller and operates only two planes – will offer three weekly flights on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

“Regular business class passengers may sit at the front of the plane, but in the end they meet up to 250 passengers on board and disembark,” La Compagnie CEO Christian Vernet told the Globes business website last month. “We identified the need for a product that is like a private plane, but with an affordable price tag.

“We bring a product that is 30% cheaper than business class on legacy airlines. In those companies, it is known that passengers who pay for business class actually subsidize economy class, and that’s why they have such an expensive fare. “

The seats on La Compagnie’s planes open into double beds, and passengers have access to a 15.7-inch personal screen for entertainment and free Wi-Fi.

“We have recently seen an increasing demand for commercial flights from Tel Aviv. Our flights are suitable for anyone who is looking for spacious seating, comfort and a more personalized flying experience,” Vernett told the Globes, not just businessmen. Welcome.

“During the holidays we have many leisure tourists and children are very welcome. In fact, the plane is so spacious that children can play during the flight and leave their parents to rest,” he said .

Yaniv Lanis, founder of the airfare monitor and prediction company “Secret Flights,” told Channel 12 News on Friday that “despite the competitive price, the big news, in my opinion, is the product itself. Flying in an aircraft that’s completely business-oriented.” class, enables a different flying experience, service and comfort from the business class section in normal passenger aircraft.

Climate crisis and responsible journalism

As environmental reporter for The Times of Israel, I try to explain the facts and science behind climate change and environmental degradation – and to explain and criticize the official policies affecting our future, and Israel. To describe the techniques that may become part of the solution.

I am passionate about the natural world and am disappointed by the blatant lack of awareness of environmental issues shown by most of the public and politicians in Israel.

I am proud to do my part to keep the readers of The Times of Israel appropriately informed about this important topic – which can and does affect policy change.
