Sunny Deol is currently negotiating his fee for Border 2. Filmmaker Anurag Singh is almost finalized to direct the sequel.

After the record-breaking success of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2, the sequel of the 2001 hit film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, fans wanted Sunny to reprise his role from his film Border and bring out a sequel. Now, according to the latest reports, filmmaker Anurag Singh is in talks with the makers to direct the film.

Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying, “Anurag Singh has made a big budget war drama in the period set up like Kesar. He also has a knack for making hard-hitting content like Punjab 1984. Seeing his talent to sensitively handle political scenarios and the ability to mount film on a certain scale, the makers are in advance talks to have him on board for Border 2.”

“The team has verbally agreed on Anurag’s name and things will proceed to the paperwork stage soon,” the source added. According to the source, the producers are planning to make Border 2 the biggest war film made in India and for this purpose, they are looking to hire the best technicians from the country to join the crew. The report mentioned that Sankalp Reddy of Gaazi Attack and Om Raut of Tanhaji were also considered for the film before advancing on Anurag.

The report mentioned that Border 2 will also be based on a true story and the script is currently in the final stages of writing. “There was a version that was created earlier by the in-house team of JP Dutta, but with Anurag on board, he is writing the subject with his approach. Ayushmann had heard the earlier version and was on board, but now, he will also decide once he hears the quality of his role in the final draft,” the source concluded.

The report mentioned that Sunny Deol is currently involved in the negotiation process for his fee with the producers.
