Boney Kapoor opened up about Sridevi in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha and revealed that she envisioned their daughter Janhvi Kapoor’s wedding. The producer, who will be releasing his film Maidaan this month, said that Sridevi would share her dreams and thoughts about Janhvi’s wedding when they would attend their friends’ and family’s weddings. Sridevi passed away in February 2018. Janhvi is currently dating Shikhar Pahariya.
In an interview with us, Boney said, “She never wanted any of the daughters to become actors. She was imagining ke inki shaadi karenge. Jab bhi hum kisi ki shaadi pe jaate the toh sochte the ke hum Janhvi ki shaadi bhi aise karenge. Koi aisa hi ladka mil jaaye. (She imagined Janhvi and Khushi getting married. Whenever we would attend a wedding, Sridevi and I would draw inspirations from the wedding and think that this is how we would get Janhvi also married. She wished for Janhvi to find a nice boy).”
“Kabhi khayaal nahi aaya ke heroine banayenge. Badte badte badte ek din… Humko ek din laga doctor banegi, humko ek din laga kuch aur banegi. Suddenly, ek din aa ke maa ko bolti mere ko bhi acting karni hai. (We never thought they would grow up to become actresses. We thought Janhvi would become a doctor or something. One day she suddenly came up to Sridevi and said, ‘I want to act.’) This is when Dhadak happened,” Boney recalled.
Janhvi made her debut in 2018, a few months after Sridevi passed away. Since her debut, she has starred in several films. She was last seen in Bhediya with Varun Dhawan and won Extraordinary Performance Popular Choice (Female) at the News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2024. Her upcoming projects include Devara: Part 1 with Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan, and a film with Ram Charan. Devera marks her debut in Telugu film industry.
