Bomb threat to CRPF Headquarters in Delhi; declared fraud

New Delhi: The CRPF headquarters in Delhi received a bomb threat call on Wednesday evening, which was later declared a hoax. PTI reported.

According to officials, fire officials at the paramilitary force’s headquarters located inside the CGO complex on Lodhi Road in the national capital received a call at around 6.30 pm about a “suspicious bomb-like object”.

Officials said two fire tenders and several teams of Delhi Police were rushed to the spot, but no bombs or dangerous objects were found.

“A joint bomb detection team of CRPF, CISF and Delhi Police was formed and a thorough search was conducted along with dog squad. Nothing was found in the CRPF headquarters building and the surrounding area. The call was then declared a hoax. Was gone,” a senior police officer told PTI.

The CRPF headquarters reportedly received a call from Telangana, following which the police control room was alerted.

The security infrastructure in the national capital is on high alert in view of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26.

Bomb panic in Trilokpuri

The incident comes hours after two suitcases were abandoned in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri, creating panic in the area. However, no explosives were found in both the bags. It contained a laptop and personal belongings.

Priyanka Kashyap, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East District), who reached the spot, told that it is a matter of lifting the bag.

“A PCR call was received regarding two unidentified bags. Our team reached the spot and found nothing suspicious there. It is a matter of lifting the bag,” ANI quoted Kashyap as saying.

On receiving the PCR call of two unclaimed bags at around 12.30 pm, the police personnel reached the spot and cordoned off the entire area.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, the Delhi Police’s Bomb Disposal Squad had also reached the spot.

Last week, a three kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found hidden in an unclaimed bag in Delhi’s Ghazipur flower market area.

The National Security Guard (NSG), in its final post-explosion investigation report, has said that the IED found in the Ghazipur flower market area contained components of ammonium nitrate and RDX and had a timer attached to it.
