BOMB threat on Moscow-Goa Azur Air plane, flight diverted to Uzbekistan

A Goa-bound chartered flight with 240 passengers from the Russian capital Moscow was diverted to Uzbekistan in the early hours of Saturday following a bomb threat. A senior police officer said the plane was to land at Dabolim airport in South Goa at 4.15 am.

He said the flight (AZV2463) operated by Azur Air was diverted before entering Indian airspace. “It was diverted after an email was received at 12.30 by the director of Dabolim airport, which mentioned a bomb planted in the aircraft,” the official said.

The incident happened nearly two weeks after a flight from Moscow to Goa made an emergency landing at Gujarat’s Jamnagar airport following a bomb threat.
