Body Blow For RCB, All-Rounder Ruled Out Ahead Of IPL 2024

England fast bowler Tom Curran’s tumultuous period in the ongoing 2023-24 Big Bash League (BBL) with Sydney Sixers has come to an unexpected conclusion due to a knee injury. The incident occurred during a match against Melbourne Stars. This setback not only rules Curran out of the remainder of the BBL but also raises doubts about his participation in the upcoming International League T20 (ILT20) 2024. Despite his recent struggles, Curran was earlier acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) Auctions.

The 28-year-old Curran, who was set to play for Desert Vipers in the ILT20 starting on January 21, will instead return to the UK. The team has revealed in a statement that the player will undergo a comprehensive assessment of his condition following his injury during the Big Bash League, as stated by the Sixers’ club statement.

Curran participated in only four matches in the current BBL season, securing an equal number of wickets. However, his stint was marred by a four-match suspension, which was imposed for intimidating the fourth umpire in the lead-up to Sydney’s match against Hobart Hurricanes during his pre-match routine.
