Board Exam 2022: CBSE, CISCE students approach Supreme Court for online option

New Delhi: In a fresh petition, six students have approached the Supreme Court seeking a hybrid mode of examination for class 10 and 12 board exams instead of only offline mode amid the pandemic. According to news agency PTI, the students appearing for the board examinations have alleged in their petition that the entire exercise of the board to conduct one or semester one examination in offline mode is completely unwarranted.

According to the date sheet announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), a board exam is going to start from November 16, while the Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) semester one exam will start from November 22. ,

Advocate Sumant Nukala, who filed the petition, insisted on conducting the examination in hybrid mode where he has the option to choose between offline and online examinations.

The plea has stressed that consent is important as the examination is directly related to the mental health of the petitioners, which requires a conducive and voluntary environment to ensure a fair assessment. The petition states that it is common knowledge that a third wave of the COVID pandemic has been predicted.

The arguments also claimed that the proposed present system of offline examination is fraught with poor planning and lack of brainstorming which will adversely affect the students.

Even though the Respondent (Board and others) wanted to hold the examination on the said dates, he had sufficient time and resources to plan carefully and consider the concerns raised in the present petition.
