To be blasted in Ludhiana court of Punjab, its planning started in Central Jail. Meetings were held in two barracks of Ludhiana Central Jail – BKU4 and Ganga. In these meetings itself, the notorious drug smuggler Ranjit Singh alias Cheeta prepared Gagandeep Singh for this blast.
Punjab Police’s STF arrested Head Constable Gagandeep Singh on 11 August 2019 with heroin after which he was dismissed from the job by the police department. The STF interrogated Gagandeep for about 12 days on remand and after that he was sent to Ludhiana Central Jail on judicial remand. Gagandeep was lodged in Ludhiana Central Jail’s BKU4 and Ganga Barracks from 24 August 2019 to 8 September 2021.
Ranjit Cheetah grew closer in jail itself
Notorious drug smuggler Ranjit Singh alias Cheeta was also lodged in Ludhiana jail at that time along with drug smuggler Sukhwinder Singh. According to police sources, Ranjit Singh and Gagandeep Singh got acquainted in the Ludhiana jail itself. 54-year-old Ranjit Singh and 39-year-old Sukhwinder Singh started growing closer to Gagandeep Singh.
When drug smuggler Ranjit Singh aka Cheeta was convinced that Gagandeep Singh was completely into his words, he told him about the plan of the bomb blast. Ranjit Singh and Sukhwinder Singh lured him to provide full help for this and get a hefty amount after the blast.
Gagandeep was in touch with Ranjit for three and a half months
Gagandeep came out on bail on 8 September 2021 but for the last three and a half months he remained in contact with Ranjit Singh alias Cheeta, who was in jail. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the Ludhiana bomb blasts and Punjab Police on Saturday brought Ranjit Singh alias Cheeta and Sukhjinder Singh from jail on production warrants and took their 7-day police remand from the court.
Suspicion of more people being involved in planning
The investigating agencies suspect that some other people lodged inside the jail may also be involved with Ranjit Singh in the planning of this blast. Both will be questioned about this during the police remand. The police is also making a list of people who, along with Ranjit Singh alias Cheeta and Gagandeep, have been lodged in the Central Jail and have come out in the last three and a half months. Such people can be questioned.
Long interrogation of wife, brother and father
Officials of the team probing the Ludhiana blasts reached Khanna on Saturday and brought Gagandeep’s wife, brother and father to Ludhiana from there. Here all three were questioned for a long time. It has also been learned that the body of Gagandeep Singh was once again identified by the three on Saturday late evening. The police officers are doing question and answer by making these three sit separately.
The investigation team is trying to know what was the activity of Gagandeep in the last three and a half months? What was his income source? Did he turn from a policeman to a smuggler and then a terrorist because of money? Or was there some other reason for this?
2 years call record removed
Police is also investigating the mobile sim being used by Gagandeep Singh in two years. His call details have been retrieved. Such numbers are on the special radar of the police, on which either Gagandeep Singh talked more or the call duration was long. The police have also taken the mobiles of many such people in their possession.
Gagan’s girlfriend will reveal the secret
The police have arrested the girlfriend of Gagandeep Singh who was killed while fitting the bomb and the lady constable Kamaljeet Kaur of Punjab Police. Kamaljit Kaur Khanna is the Deputy Reader of the SP Headquarters in the Police District. According to sources, Gagandeep Singh probably informed Kamaljeet Kaur before the blast.
Police arrested the girlfriend of sacked Punjab Police head constable Gagandeep Singh, who was killed in a blast while fitting a bomb in a Ludhiana court. This woman is also a constable in Punjab Police and is currently said to be posted in the SP Headquarters office of Khanna Police District.
Despite being sacked from the police department, Gagandeep had to visit Khanna Sadar police station in routine. He was in contact with many police officers. Police is interrogating all of them. It is worth noting that at the time of his arrest with heroin in 2019, Gagandeep Khanna was posted as a scribe in the Sadar police station itself.
Special Branch team of Delhi Police arrived
A team of Special Branch of Delhi Police reached Punjab on Saturday, the third day after the bomb blast in Ludhiana court. The blast took place in Delhi’s Rohini court on 9 December itself. The Special Branch of Delhi Police is investigating that blast. Delhi Special Branch officers are probing whether there is any similarity between the blasts in Rohini court and Ludhiana court. He is also taking updates from the team probing the Ludhiana blasts.
