Blast at Jammu Airport Live Updates: NIA probe likely, flight operations normal; Air Force stations on high alert in Punjab and Srinagar

In 2016, four to six terrorists suspected of having links to the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit carried out a suicide attack on the Pathankot airbase. The operation that followed lasted more than 36 hours, in which five attackers were killed, and three security forces personnel also lost their lives.

The blast happened around 1.40 am. The first blast took place from the roof of a building and the second blast took place on the ground. The explosion was so strong that sound could be heard within a radius of two kilometres.

There were also reports of the arrest of two people, including a hardcore Lashkar terrorist, on Sunday and 4.7 kg of IEDs recovered from them. However, sources said that as of now there is no connection between the two incidents.

A suspected improvised explosive device was detected and later defused by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar earlier this month. An official had said that a suspicious IED kept in a steel container weighing about 10 kg was detected near the government quarter in Chanpora.

He said the bomb disposal squad later defused the explosive device without causing any loss of life or damage.
