One of the unique things about Korean idol groups is how few artists can pursue their solo careers together. Joining the league of such artists is Blackpink’s rapper Lisa. As per a recent update, Blackpink’s entertainment agency YG Entertainment has confirmed that Lisa will be coming out with her solo album soon.
The Thai artist who is part of the South Korean idol group, will be the third star from Blackpink to come out with her solo work. The first single was released by singer Jenny, who came up with a solo song in 2018. Earlier this year, Rose became the second member to release her solo album R.
According to sumpy, YG agency said in a statement that Lisa will be filming the music video for her new song this week and will make her solo debut in the summer. Last year, YG Entertainment announced that the members of BLACKPINK would release their own solo tracks starting with Rose. After this now the other members of the group are Lisa and Jisoo.
The four-member K-pop idol group released their first full album titled The Album in October 2020. It consisted of eight tracks that soon became some of the most streamed songs ever. His song titled How You Like That peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Global Exclusive US chart. The album also included collaborations with American pop stars such as Cardi B for the song Bet You Wanna and Selena Gomez for the song Ice Cream. The ice cream song also made it to the Billboard Hot 100 chart and peaked at number 13 last year.
Blackpink made its debut in 2016 and has since garnered a fanatical fan following across the globe. Last year, the group also gave fans a glimpse into their regular lives and daily struggles with their Netflix documentary Blackpink: Light Up the Sky.
