There is a new battle between two women leaders occupying the political space in Karnataka – Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (Congress) vs Smriti Irani (Bharatiya Janata Party).
According to the voter list for the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections, women voters outnumber men in about 50% of the state’s 224 assembly seats. Mainstream parties may be lacking in giving more number of tickets to women candidates, but there is a new battle between two women leaders occupying the political space – Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (Congress) vs Smriti Irani (Bharatiya Janata Party).
Vadra has done more rallies and roadshows than most Congress leaders outside Karnataka. When Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s “poisonous snake” remark was attacked by the BJP including the PM, Vadra was singled out to attack the PM.
The BJP decided to oust Irani, whose strong credentials come from the fact that she won Rahul Gandhi Gandhi family in Amethi’s pocketborough.
The day the Congress launched its campaign by releasing a corruption report card, Irani threw it back at herself.
She told News18: “I want to know more about why she asked banker Rana Kapoor for money? Why was money asked for in lieu of the Padma award? Look at the PM, he meets common people, who don’t deserve it, who have done so much… people like Tulsi Gowda.”
He said: “Is it not true that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are out on bail? Isn’t DK Shivakumar also out on bail and under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate (ED)?”
Not only this, in the context of the Bajrang Dal controversy, Irani asked, “Why did Vadra offer Namaz during the election?”
After the 2019 elections, Irani emerged as the giant killer, defeating Rahul Gandhi, who then had to contest from Wayanad as well. Vadra may not have a good report card on elections, but she is one of those who has the ability to draw crowds and as a woman, take the BJP at a time when it is looking towards women empowerment. Is.
