Modi’s convoy on its way towards the National Defense University.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Gujarat after a bumper victory in four states. Today he will inaugurate the National Defense University (RRU) at Dehgam, Gandhinagar. During this, only Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be present. PM will also address the first convocation of RRU today. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Khel Mahakumbh at 6.30 pm.
Earlier on Friday, the PM addressed the Panchayat Mahasammelan after the roadshow in Ahmedabad. He had also come to meet mother Heeraben in Gandhinagar. Here he ate dinner with his mother.
The PM, who reached Gujarat yesterday, also did a road show from the airport during the BJP office.
Emphasis on making villages self-reliant
The Prime Minister emphasized on rural development in the Panchayat Mahasammelan. Referring to Mahatma Gandhi, he said that at a time when India is celebrating 75 years of independence, the dream of the Father of the Nation for rural development and Swaraj should be fulfilled soon. For this it is important to strengthen the structure of Panchayati Raj. The PM said that all the Panchayat members are working towards achieving this goal.

presided over a meeting of Somnath Trust
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of Shri Somnath Trust yesterday on Friday. He heads the trust that manages the world famous Somnath temple. Modi reviewed the development works being done by the trust. In an evening meeting at the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar, the trustees approved the ambitious project to cover the top of the Somnath temple with gold, an official said.

PM Modi became the chairman of the trust in 2021
PM Modi was appointed as the chairman of the trust in January 2021 following the demise of former state chief minister Keshubhai Patel. Other trustees include senior BJP leader LK Advani, Union Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat scholar JD Parmar, former Gujarat bureaucrat PK Lahiri and industrialist Harshvardhan Neotia. Trust secretary Lahiri said that apart from reviewing the development works being carried out by the trust, the Prime Minister and other trustees had detailed discussions about some upcoming projects during the meeting.
