Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP The unit is making elaborate arrangements to celebrate.Modi Pongal‘ In madurai On January 12 to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is coming to inaugurate government medical colleges in the state.
The state unit aims to impress the party leader and boost the morale of the office bearers by organizing various programs during Modi’s visit. In a statement, the party’s state president K Annamalai said that PM Modi will participate in Pongal.
The state chief has constituted a 12-member committee to make arrangements for the programme. State general secretary Karu Nagarajan will chair the committee. The party has also formed a ‘Welcome Committee’ under the leadership of senior party functionary Ram Srinivasan to make arrangements.
The party has planned a series of special Pongal celebrations at the party mandal level in the state as part of the festivities from January 7. It will culminate on January 12 in Madurai where the PM is expected to attend, Karu Nagarajan said.
Folk artists will be roped in to add color and flavor to the programme.
“We are planning to bring at least 10,000 women to make Pongal on this occasion. It will be a mega event in the state. The Modi Pongal festival also aims to boost the morale of the party cadre ahead of the urban local body elections.
Union ministers were expected to participate in the programme.
