Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday once again hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), alleging that they are “fake Hindus” who use religion for their own gains.

Addressing the foundation day of the All India Mahila Congress, Gandhi said, “The people of the BJP-RSS claim that they are a Hindu party. In the last 100-200 years, Mahatma Gandhi is the person who understood and followed Hinduism. Followed. We recognize it. And so do the people of BJP and RSS.”
Rahul Gandhi said, “If Mahatma Gandhi gave his whole life to understand Hinduism then why did Godse kill him. It is a contradiction and you have to think about it.”
The Wayanad MP further said that the ideology of Congress was completely opposite to that of BJP-RSS and only one of the two ideologies can rule the country.
Further in his speech, Rahul Gandhi emphasized that Goddess Lakshmi stands for the power that helps one achieve one’s goal and Goddess Durga stands for the power that protects.
The former Congress president said, “While the Congress has strengthened these powers while in government, the ruling BJP government has reduced these powers.”
“They (BJP) call themselves the Hindu party and attack Lakshmi and Durga all over the country. Wherever they go, they kill Lakshmi, somewhere they kill Durga. They use Hinduism, they There are brokers of religion, but Hindus are not.” she added.
