After the Prime Minister unveiled the emblem at the new Parliament building, the opposition questioned the power-sharing between the executive and the legislature.

BJP on Monday termed the opposition’s criticism of the Prime Minister as politically motivated Narendra Modi Unveiling of a cast of the national emblem atop the new Parliament House.

Opposition parties such as the Congress, CPI(M) and AIMIM criticized the inauguration by Modi, saying it was a “violation” of the Constitution which envisages separation of power between the executive and the legislature.

Modi unveiled the national emblem on the roof of the new Parliament building and also attended a religious ceremony at the site. BJP’s chief spokesperson and national media in-charge Anil Baluni said, “It is unfortunate that the opposition parties have come up with yet another set of baseless allegations, which smacks of their political motive.”

He said that the building would be handed over to the Parliament Administration after the completion of the construction work.
“Opposition parties questioning the observation ceremony should understand the administrative process. From Parliament’s design to funding and construction supervision, the entire work falls under the purview of the Ministry of Urban Development,” he said. “Even the foundation stone was laid by the prime minister,” Baluni said.
