Gadkari, who is the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, also said that the NDA government through its development work and good governance has instilled a sense of confidence among the people.

Speaking on the views of ABP Network India Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Gadkari also said at the summit that the NDA government has instilled a sense of confidence among the people through its development works and good governance.

The Union minister said that his party maintains a very “positive attitude” and whatever work it has done is based on the opportunities provided to it, adding that “the performance of our party, our leadership and our ministers will certainly be on the rating card”. more important than”.

Gadkari said, “I can say with confidence that the work that has been done in the last (over eight) years under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is much more than what was done in 60 years of Congress rule.”

On the development of green transportation, the minister said, “Hydrogen is the fuel of our future and India’s future vehicles will run on hydrogen and green fuel.” Though his ministry never talked about Electric Vehicle (EV) targets for the year 2030, Gadkari said, in the coming years, India will definitely shift to electric vehicles.

“We import fossil fuels worth Rs 16 lakh crore every year, but very soon our farmers will produce green fuel and green hydrogen,” he said, adding that lithium-ion batteries would lead the shift from petrol and diesel-powered cars .

Reiterating that the cost of Lithium Ion batteries will come down in the next one year, the Minister said that India will soon become a net exporter of Lithium and become a major global player.

Expressing satisfaction over the development of highways in the country, Gadkari said, “In the coming years, public transport in the country will be revolutionized and the new highways will drastically reduce travel time between major cities.

However, he said that his ministry and government have failed to bring down the accident rate on Indian roads.

“We want to reduce road accidents by 50 per cent by 2024, but we will not be able to achieve it,” he said.

He said that for this human behavior has to be changed as people were still not following the rules of red light, car seat belt or two wheeler helmet.

Gadkari called for introducing road safety education at the primary level to make Indians aware about it at an early age.
