BJP leader Vishwajit Krishnarao Rane joins AAP ahead of Goa polls

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vishwajit Krishnarao Rane on Tuesday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of party chief Arvind Kejriwal in Poriem.

Rane said that except AAP, both the BJP and the Congress have failed in development. Rane said his inspiration to join the BJP was Manohar Parrikar’s vision for the state. But the present government has no vision and ‘I think Arvind Kejriwal’s vision can change Goa’.

He said that Porim MLA Vishwajit Pratapsinh Rane was the CM for more than a decade and MLA for 50 years. Despite this, he failed to provide basic necessities to the people of Porim. Rane unsuccessfully contested from Porim constituency in 2017.

Kejriwal is on a two-day tour of the state ahead of the Goa elections. He said that when ministers can give three thousand units of electricity free of cost every month, then what is wrong in giving 300 units of free electricity to the common man.

Kejriwal also said that his party aims to end corruption in Goa. “I am not a politician. I am not a leader. I am a ‘common man’ like all of you.”

Kejriwal said ten years ago, there was a “setting” between the Congress and the BJP, who alternately share power every five years. “We have given the best government in Delhi. We have given best government schools. Parents have started taking their children out of private schools and enrolling them in government schools.

He said that AAP wants to bring the Delhi model of the government to Goa.

Elections are to be held in Goa early next year.
