The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has issued a notice to senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh asking him to demolish his illegally constructed house on the outskirts of the city within five days.

Singh and his family moved into the palatial bungalow near the army’s ammunition sub-depot in Nagrota’s Ban village on July 23 last year, even though the high court in May 2018 asked officials to ensure “strict implementation” of the 2015 notification. was instructed. Prohibiting the general public from carrying out any construction within 1,000 yards of defense works.

Confirming receipt of the notice issued by the JDA on November 8, the BJP leader said, “The matter is sub-judice and I will consult my lawyers for future course of action.”

In its order of demolition, the JDA stated that the building was constructed without obtaining valid permission from the competent authority.

“… you are directed to remove the illegal construction at your level within five days from the date of issue of the order.

If you fail to remove the illegal construction within the stipulated period, it will be demolished by the enforcement wing of JDA and the cost of removal will be recovered from you as arrears of land revenue,” the JDA said.

The High Court had last year on May 7, 2018, asked all concerned to maintain status quo till the final disposal of the Army’s plea, which claimed that the building was in violation of prescribed norms.
