A senior BJP leader said around 200 representatives from Muslim, Christian and Sikh communities were invited to the BJP headquarters for talks on politics of development rather than appeasement.

The BJP has launched ‘Sufi Samvad’ – dialogue with minorities, especially economically backward sections in these communities, ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Minority Front of the saffron party will organize a big convention in December which will be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The dialogues were organized after Prime Minister Modi asked party leaders to reach out to the Pasmandas and Bohras of the Muslim community on two occasions, one at the National Executive held in Hyderabad and the other in New Delhi. This prompted the Morcha to kickstart programs among the minorities.

Around 200 representatives from Muslim, Christian and Sikh communities were invited to the BJP headquarters for talks on politics of development rather than appeasement, a senior leader said. They were from dargahs, gurudwaras and churches.

The morcha has decided to form a team of 20 members in each mandal, which will then go to minority-dominated areas and discuss their future with them.

According to sources, the BJP has also chosen places with a significant percentage of Muslim and minority votes. The focus will be on constituencies with Muslim populations such as Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam and Bihar.

“We will have a big conference in December. Our representatives also have people from dargahs, churches and gurudwaras. Some of them will even speak about government policies that improved the lives of the socially backward among them, while other parties garner votes and do nothing,” said Jamal Siddiqui, national president of the BJP Minority Front.

Yasser Jilani, national media in-charge of the morcha, said the outreach was to include a section of the community that was left behind due to being used as a vote bank. The Morcha will hold talks in the states and understand what the minorities want.
