Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday alleged that the BJP had a direct link with the horrific murder in Udaipur and said the saffron party was spreading hatred to divide the country.

In a tweet, Banerjee attached two photographs of an accused in the brutal murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in the city of Rajasthan. The accused is allegedly seen in the company of local BJP leaders at events organized in the past.

Hitting out at the saffron party, the TMC leader tweeted, “No, they (BJP) don’t want unity. No, they don’t want harmony. No, they don’t want democracy. They want to divide the country.” TMC leader tweeted.

“Responsible for spreading hate, propaganda & divisive politics, @BJP4India is directly linked to the gruesome #UdaipurHorror, see for yourself,” he wrote and shared the photos.

In the photographs, a murder accused can be seen with an elderly local BJP leader wearing a saffron turban and a dupatta with a lotus symbol on it. At least three others are seen wearing similar scarves in the photo. In another group photo, the accused is seen wearing saffron scarves with a group of men. In the third, the accused is seen carrying a sharp weapon.

What’s happened so far?

Kanhaiya Lal was hacked to death on Tuesday afternoon by two knife-wielding men, who posted a horrific video of the crime online saying they were avenging the insult to Islam. The murder has sparked widespread outrage.

Hours after the incident, two accused, Riyaz Akhtari and Ghaus Mohammad, were arrested while escaping on a motorcycle. Two more persons allegedly involved in the conspiracy to raid Kanhaiya’s shop and murder him were also arrested later. The four were remanded in police custody till July 12 on Saturday.

The Congress on Saturday alleged that the main accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case in Udaipur was a member of the BJP, dismissing the claim as “fake news” and an attempt to divert attention from the “failures” of the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan. ,

BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya said the accused were not BJP members and the opposition party should “stop being fooled” on matters related to national security.

BJP Minority Morcha Rajasthan president Mohammad Sadiq Khan, citing a Facebook post with Akhtari, told Congress’s media department head Pawan Khera, “Anyone can put up a photo with any leader. It doesn’t mean that he or she can. BJP member.” local BJP leader

TMC leader Babul Supriyo backs Banerjee

TMC leader Babul Supriyo supported Abhishek Banerjee and asked the BJP to investigate the incident. Sharing Banerjee’s post on Twitter, he wrote, “All the people of the saffron party seen in this picture should be interrogated and every link should be probed.. – Washing machines for criminals at present.”
