Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said his government has ensured transparency in the recruitment process which was earlier plagued by nepotism and casteism.

“When we took charge of the state in 2017, there were a lot of complaints regarding the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, Subordinate Services Selection Commission, higher Education Selection Commission and Secondary Education Selection Commission Examination,” he said.

“So much so that the court’s intervention was sought to stop several recruitment exams. In some cases, the court had also made serious remarks. I told the officials that the shortcomings should be removed. Earlier the recruitment process was not transparent. Nepotism and casteism prevailed in the recruitment process and injustice was done to the meritorious and talented candidates.”

The Chief Minister said that the government has formed a team of honest officers to ensure transparency in the recruitment process. In an ideal society, recruitment agencies, whether it is the Union Public Service Commission or the State Public Service Commission, have a big role to play.

He said that in the last six years, the government has made 5.5 lakh appointments and has not raised any question on any appointment. However, he added that the number of appointments is not sufficient for a state with a population of 25 crore.

Due to better law and order situation, a lot of investment has come in the state.
