BJP: BJP will intensify agitation across Tamil Nadu to keep temples open. Chennai News – Times of India

Chennai: The BJP will intensify its protest throughout Tamil Nadu If the government refused to open the temple for devotees on all days, then the party state president K Annamalai said on Thursday. By a government order, temples in the state remain closed on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“We give the government ten days to withdraw its ill-conceived order. If they don’t do it, we will hit the streets.” Annamalai After leading the protest in front of Kalikambal temple, which comes under Harbor Assembly Constituency, represented by HR&CE Minister PK Shekhar Babu. Annamalai said the DMK government was trying to push its ideology into the personal space and belief of the people in the name of COVID-19 preventive measures.
Senior BJP leaders including National Women’s Wing President and Coimbatore South constituency MLA Vanathi Srinivasan and party floor leader Nainar Nagendran Participated in demonstrations in front of 12 temples of the state. Annamalai said that the temples have huge crowds on weekdays as they are closed on weekends. This defeats the logic of COVID containment, he said, suggesting that the government comes up with an SOP and restricts the movement of devotees in temples throughout the day. The same approach can be adopted for all religious institutions, including mosques and churches.
On the government’s decision to convert gold ornaments offered by devotees into gold bars, the BJP leader said it was a “mis-thought-out trick” which is against the law. The party will approach the Madras High Court.
