BJP And Congress Engage in Bengaluru ‘Water Politics

DK Shivakumar, Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister and a leader of the Congress party, has assigned nodal officers for a constituency in Bengaluru in response to a severe water shortage in the city. However, this decision has faced criticism from the BJP, which has described it as “stepmotherly.” This criticism arises because the constituency falls under the Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha constituency, represented by Shivakumar’s brother, DK Suresh.

Bengaluru Water Crisis

The Karnataka government’s decision to appoint a nodal officer specifically for Rajarajeshwari Nagar during Bengaluru’s water shortage has drawn criticism from Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra. He believes it shows favoritism and neglect. Karnataka BJP Vice President Malavika Avinash agrees with Vijayendra, saying it’s unfair for the government to focus on Rajarajeshwari Nagar, which is part of DK Shivakumar’s brother Suresh’s constituency when the entire city is facing water scarcity.
