Bizman: You should appoint industry minister from the district. Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: With three days left for the swearing-in of Aam Aadmi Party’s Bhagwant Mann as the Chief Minister, who will later appoint his council of ministers, the city’s businessmen have raised the demand for an industry minister from Ludhiana.
He said that he had raised this demand with the previous governments as well, but it was ignored and now he has high hopes from the new government. Among the 13 AAP MLAs elected from rural and urban constituencies here, Gurpreet Gogi and Madan Lal Bagga They are the two who have industry experience. Gogi was the chairman of the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) and Bagga, during the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) government, was the vice chairman of the Punjab Traders Board and several other departments related to the industry.
Speaking to TOI, Apparel Exporters Promotion Council executive council member Harish Dua said, “Ludhiana has given its biggest mandate to any political party. Now the party must retaliate by appointing at least one minister from among the local winners. Since Ludhiana is an industrial hub, the industries minister should be appointed from here. The decision will be in the interest of the city, whose major part of the population is directly or indirectly connected with trade and industry. That’s why we request AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab’s nominated chief minister Bhagwant Mann to fulfill the aspirations of industrialists.
“Before its term ended, the previous Congress government realized its mistake and appointed Khanna MLA Gurkeerat in October 2021 boiler As Minister of Industry. But it was too late,” Dua said.
Indrajit Singh NavyugFormer President of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) said, “Despite having the largest base of factories and trading activities, our demand to be Industries Minister from Ludhiana has always been ignored. To carry out even our smallest work, we had to chase industry ministers from other districts or to their offices in Chandigarh. And many times we used to return empty handed due to lack of them. If this minister is appointed from Ludhiana, it will also be beneficial for AAP government, as it will easily identify and solve our problems.
Fastener Manufacturers Association of India (FMAI) President Narinder Bhamra said, “AAP has got a clear mandate from the people of Punjab as it has a different style of politics and governance. Therefore, it should set an example and give proper representation to the industrial city. There are many AAP MLAs from Ludhiana who are experienced in handling industry related matters and should be considered for the portfolio.
