Bike thief, drug peddler injured in Assam Police firing Guwahati News – Times of India

Guwahati: An alleged motorcycle thief injured in police firing while trying to escape in Laharijan Assamof Morigaon district in the early hours of Sunday.
The incident took place when the police were trying to arrest the accused, who has been identified as trilokya bordoloi26, and recover stolen motorcycles from him. BordoloiThe man, who sustained bullet injury in the right leg, was taken to Morigaon Civil Hospital. Later, he was shifted to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
GMCH Superintendent Abhijeet wire Said, “The initial treatment of the patient was done at Morigaon Civil Hospital. Here we have found a bullet entry and exit wound in his right leg. There was no serious bleeding. We haven’t found any bone fractures.”
Sarma said Bordoloi would be discharged in two-three days if there were no complications.
In another incident, a suspected drug smuggler was injured after police opened fire on him while he was allegedly trying to escape to evade arrest in Assam. Nagaon District on Saturday.
On the basis of specific information, a campaign was launched under Juria police station area. On protesting, the accused tried to escape by attacking the police team with a sharp weapon. In response, the police team opened fire on him, injuring his right hand. A total of 59 vials of suspected drug, Rs 10,200 in cash, one motorcycle and two mobile phones were recovered from him, police said.
