Rukmini Kumari (22), studying in a government school in Banka district, has been the talk of the town since Wednesday when she gave birth to a child in the morning and wrote her science paper three hours later, taking it easy as advised. refused. doctors and family members.

Talking to reporters, Rukmini said, “There was some uneasiness since Tuesday when I wrote my maths paper. I was excited about the Science paper which was scheduled the next day. But, I had to be taken to the hospital late at night. My son was born at 6 in the morning.”

Rukmini said that she wants her son to grow up to study well and earn a name. “So, I couldn’t let myself loose and serve as a bad example,” she said.

According to Dr. Bhola Nath, who treated the woman at the hospital, “Initially we tried to convince Rukmini to quit the paper as the difficulties of childbirth had taken a toll on her health. But she remained adamant. So, we arranged for an ambulance and deputed some paramedics to assist her in case of emergency.”

Betraying a mixture of fatigue and pride, Rukmini said, “My science paper also went well. I hope to score well.” Dr Bhola Nath said he was relieved that both mother and son were healthy and Rukmini was able to fulfill her ambition of a good education.
