Rakeysh Bapat won hearts with his dim smile and gentleness in the 2001 musical hit Tum Bin. After this he did Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar (2005–2008), Maryada: But for how long? (2010–2012) and Qubool Hai (2014). The good looking actor has now entered the digital chapter of the reality show Bigg Boss OTT as one of the most popular contestants. Before being locked in the house for 6 weeks, Rakesh spoke to News18 and said that he is excited to know what the show has in store for him. Part:
What are you feeling before entering the Bigg Boss OTT house?
I’m so numb, to be honest. I’m just going with the flow. I’m not thinking about it too much. I have never seen Bigg Boss season before this. I like to enter completely with a blank slate, and go there to see what’s in store. And I’m really excited to do so.
How did you prepare mentally for the show?
The pandemic prepared us all, it was like a Bigg Boss house without cameras in real life. It taught us to be self-reliant – how to be self-reliant and be ready for everything that lies ahead. It also taught us a lot about mental health. Bigg Boss is a show that is all about the mind, so you have to be mentally strong. And in this pandemic, a lot of people have spoken out about mental health issues. So I guess it totally made me say yes to the show.
Are you now ready to have cameras on you all the time?
I am a very private person. I don’t live in Mumbai, I live in Pune. I have a beautiful house in which my paintings and sculptures are taking place. I also did my visual art therapy there. That’s why I’ve been away from a lot of things for a long time. It was like taking a break in the sense of rebooting myself. For me anyway, more than two people are a crowd. So I thought, how will I do? But I came to the conclusion that if you are true to yourself, who you are, there is nothing to hide. You are not doing anything wrong. So it’s okay to be in front of the camera.
Your fans have seen you on screen as an actor, now which aspect of your personality do you want them to see?
They’re going to see what I am honestly, I’m not here to raise eyebrows or catch eyes. It’s a challenge, and I like to take challenges. People who know me know that I am very calm and creative, very precise and perfect at doing things. So maybe they would like to see a person who is the exact opposite of what one would expect to be a Bigg Boss accomplice. I think it will be a different, interesting move for him.
