Big terror plot foiled in Delhi ahead of R-Day; Police shares SHOCKING details

Ahead of 26 January or Republic Day, the Delhi Police has foiled a major terror plot in the national capital. Additional CP P Kushwaha, Special Cell, Delhi Police today said that they nabbed 2 terrorists, Naushad and Jagjit from Jahangirpuri on January 12 and recovered 2 military-grade hand grenades, 3 pistols and cartridges. He said the terrorist duo had killed a man in December last year to demonstrate their capabilities to their handlers and send the video of the killing to their handlers in Pakistan.

Kushwaha said that the Special Cell had received information about the hiding of two suspects in Jahangirpuri area. After this the police team raided the hideout and arrested the terrorists. The accused have been arrested under UAPA. Jagjit is a resident of Uttarakhand while Naushad’s house is in Jahangirpuri, Delhi.

Police said they found traces of blood in the house where the accused were hiding, which led to the suspicion of murder. After enquiry, a mutilated body was recovered from a nearby drain. The police officer said, “Naushad and Jagjit were involved in terrorist activities. They wanted to kill a right-wing leader in Delhi.”

Kushwaha also said that these people had planned a major terrorist attack in Punjab in the coming month. He said that he had to attack in Delhi as well because he had many big leaders on his target. He said that Pakistan’s ISI bosses are behind this sinister conspiracy.

“Investigation (in the case of 2 terrorists caught by the Special Cell) is on. The terrorists have been kept in police custody for 14 days. Our teams did a good job by acting quickly otherwise something untoward could have happened.” HGS Dhaliwal, Special CP, Special Cell said.

Police said Naushad was being handled by a suspected LeT handler, while Jagjit’s handler was Kanda-based Arshdeep Dalla, a designated terrorist.

Earlier, the police along with the team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) visited the house of the accused on Friday. Neighbors of the accused told media persons that the accused had shifted to the house around Diwali and were rarely seen outside.

He had said that Jagjit Singh was suspected to have links with a Khalistani terrorist based in Canada, adding that Naushad was associated with the terror outfit Harkat ul-Ansar. Jagjit Singh is a member of the infamous ‘Bambiha’ gang and has been receiving instructions from anti-national elements based abroad. The police had said that he was a parole jumper in a murder case in Uttarakhand. (with agency inputs)
