Big Tech Companies Only Allow Vaccinated US Employees In Offices

Big tech companies are making it mandatory for employees in the United States to receive a COVID-19 vaccination before entering campuses, as the highly contagious Delta version of the virus causes a resurgence in cases across regions.

Alphabet Inc.’s Google and Facebook Inc. said on Wednesday that all US employees should be vaccinated before stepping into offices. Google also plans to expand its vaccination campaign to other regions in the coming months. (https://bit.ly/3zQJfNf)

Streaming giant Netflix Inc. has also implemented a policy making vaccination mandatory for cast and crew on all of its US productions, according to a report in Deadline.

Bloomberg News reported that Apple Inc. plans to reinstate its mask requirement policy for both customers and employees at most of its US retail stores, even if they have been vaccinated. (https://bloom.bg/3f8HMcZ)

Apple and Netflix did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Several tech companies, including Microsoft Corp and Uber, have said they expect employees to return to the office months after the pandemic-induced lockdown forced them to move to work from home.

In April, Salesforce said it would allow vaccinated employees to return to some of its offices.

Google also said on Wednesday that it would extend its work-from-home policy until October 18 due to the recent increase due to the Delta version in various regions.

“We will continue to review the data carefully and will notify you at least 30 days in advance of transitioning to our full return to office plans,” the company said.
