In the midst of the assembly elections being held in 5 states, the Election Commission has given permission to undertake padyatra in the election campaign. The commission has also extended the election campaign time by 4 hours. Earlier, the election campaign time was changed from 8 am to 8 pm. Now all the parties will be able to campaign for the assembly elections to be held in five states from 6 am to 10 pm.

According to the new guideline, after taking permission from the district administration, the parties will be able to march with limited numbers. Meetings can be held with 50 percent of the maximum capacity of the ground or rally venue. Let us inform that due to the increasing cases of corona in the country, the commission had also fixed the time of campaigning while banning the padyatra.

There was a ban on rallies on January 8
On January 8, the Election Commission announced the dates for elections and results in all the five states. Also, till January 15, all election rallies were banned. The commission has said that if anyone violates the rules related to election rallies or campaigning, then the District Magistrate or the Returning Officer can take action against him. Such people can be stopped from holding any further rally.

Road shows and pad yatras were also banned
On 31 March 2022, the Election Commission gave a big relief in the restrictions related to election campaign amid increasing cases of Corona. 20 candidates and activists are allowed to do door-to-door campaigns. The guideline also allowed party or party candidates to hold meetings with 1000 people, but road shows, pad-yatras, cycle/bike/vehicle rallies and processions were banned till February 11.

The number of people for door-to-door campaigning was increased from 10 to 20. 500 workers were allowed to attend indoor meetings. Here it was said to accommodate 50% of the hall’s capacity.
