Before the announcement of the assembly elections, the Punjab government has opened the electoral box. After the waiver of electricity bill, the arrears of sewerage-water bill in the cities have been waived. Its order was issued after the announcement of Chief Minister Charanjit Channi. According to this, the bill will be completely waived up to 125 square yards in Punjab. The bill for all categories above this has been fixed at Rs 50 per month.

Apart from this, the arrears of sewerage and water bills of the houses have been completely waived off. In this, along with the principal amount, no interest and penalty will also have to be paid. It was also decided that the Punjab government would give the outstanding electricity bill for water supply in urban areas directly to Powercom (PSPCL). This order will be applicable on the outstanding bills before October 21.

Big blow to the earnings of corporations and councils
The decision of the Punjab Government has dealt a big blow to the earnings of the Municipal Corporation and Municipal Councils in Punjab. Earlier a bill of Rs 100 was charged above 125 square yards. The corporations were preparing that by installing water meters in big houses, the income would increase, but the water was again lost on it. Apart from this, the financial condition will improve by recovering the arrears, but now it has also lost its hands.

The gift of forgiveness of electricity bills already given
Earlier, CM Charanjit Channi has given the gift of electricity bill waiver in Punjab. In Punjab, this relief was given to those with connections up to 2 kW. About 53 lakh families come in this. Their electricity bill of Rs 1,200 crore has been waived. Apart from this, free units of electricity for the beneficiary category consumers have also been increased from 200 to 300. Channi government decided to add free connections of one lakh consumers who were disconnected due to outstanding bills.

Government’s silence on big issues
The special thing is that the Channi government is silent about the issues on which Captain Amarinder Singh lost his CM chair. Apart from the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and the shooting related to it, nothing is being said on issues like intoxication, wrong power agreement. The minister is talking about taking action on this as per the law. As CM, Amarinder also kept on arguing that the matter was in the court. Navjot Sidhu had also claimed 3 to 5 rupees per unit of electricity to every consumer but the agreement is still intact and people are forced to buy expensive electricity.
