Bikram Majithia
There has been a new explosion in the politics of Punjab. The Congress government of Punjab has registered a case against Akali leader Bikram Majithia at midnight. The case has been registered at the Bureau of Investigation (BOI) police station in Mohali. There were constant allegations against Majithia regarding the drugs case.
Notably, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Sidhu was claiming that Majithia’s name is in the Special Task Force (STF) report. Sidhu was constantly talking about action against Majithia. For this reason, 4 days ago, after removing Iqbalpreet Sahota, the Punjab government had appointed Siddharth Chattopadhyay as acting DGP.
The High Court had said – If we have no restraint, then why did we not take action?
In this case, there has been a lot of politics regarding the sealed STF report submitted in the High Court. Especially, within the Congress, there was a war between Sidhu and Channi Sarkar. After this the first Advocate General was changed under the pressure of Sidhu. DS Patwalia, who replaced APS Deol, said in the High Court that there is no bar on opening the STF report. After which the High Court reprimanded the government as to why they have not acted on it yet. So now the government is getting into full action.
When the officers went on leave, there was a dispute
In Punjab, a few days ago, questions were being raised about the officers of the Bureau of Investigation going on leave continuously. Recently, this matter came into the limelight when ADGP SK Asthana suddenly went on medical leave. When there was a ruckus about this, he was admitted to the hospital. After which some parts of his letter to the DGP were also leaked. In which he had said that Majithia cannot be acted upon like this.
Valtoha said – 4 ADGP denied
Akali Dal leader Virsa Singh Valtoha said that Majithia is being deliberately implicated. Channi government has no issue, so this new controversy is being created. The 4 ADGP of the Bureau of Investigation had denied this. After this Channi government changed the DGP and now this action has been taken.
