Bhumi Pednekar Celebrates Indian Representation At Oscars 2023, Says ‘We Are Thrilled’

India stood tall at the 95th Academy Awards. Not only did Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR win the Best Original Song award, The Elephant Whispers was also crowned as the Best Documentary Short Film. Since then the winners have been receiving a thunderous reception from fans and celebs. Now joining that bandwagon is none other than Bhumi Pednekar.

During an interview with news agency ANI, Bhumi Pednekar expressed her happiness and congratulated the makers of RRR and The Elephant Whispers for making India proud. “Since childhood, we wake up early in the morning to watch Oscars every year, but always feel why Indian films are not a part of it. I always questioned why there is no girl like me (of Indian origin)…and why our films are not celebrated at the Oscars. But this time when I saw the (Indian) representation, I felt very proud!” he said.

The Govinda Naam Mera actress further added, “I feel like this is the beginning of many films from our country that will be celebrated there and it is certainly a very proud moment. And, we are all thrilled, we are all supporting And we all are celebrating both the winners (Team RRR and Elephant Whispers).”

First Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, actor Said Ali Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut Others including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Rana Daggubati and filmmakers Karan Johar and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri also congratulated the makers of RRR and The Elephant Whispers.

Meanwhile, talking about Bhumi Pednekar, she will be next seen in Anubhav Sinha’s directorial venture ‘Bheed’ alongside Rajkumar Rao and Ashutosh Rana. The film will hit the theaters on March 24, 2023. After this Bhumi will also be seen in ‘Afwah’. Directed by Sudhir Mishra, the film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Taapsee Pannu. It is expected to release by the end of this year.
