Ahmedabad: A 39-year-old woman from Bopali On Saturday, she filed a complaint with the Bopal police alleging that her husband tried to kill her on Friday night as he had objected to her extramarital affair. He tried to kill her by holding her breath with a pillow and hit her private parts with a screwdriver.
Kanchan Bhandari, a resident of ISKCON Platinum in Bopal, said in her FIR that she had married accused Lokendra Bhandari about 16 years ago after falling in love with each other. Bhandari also has a spa in Vastrapur, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.
About five years ago, she came to know that her husband had relations with many women. There used to be frequent fights between the two over the illicit relationship of the young man.
Recently, Lokendra went to Bangalore, from where he sent pictures of three different women to Kanchan and asked her which of them was the prettiest.
Feeling humiliated, Kanchan calls her sister-in-law and tells about Lokendra’s behaviour, and takes up the issue with her as well.
When his sister-in-law raised the issue with Lokendra, he told her that he would beat Kanchan with his belt and not leave her alive.
On Friday night when Kanchan was sleeping with her two children, Lokendra reached their house and took her to the drawing room.
He first snatched her mobile and threw it. Later, he tied her to a chair and started beating and thrashing her with the belt. As if that wasn’t enough, Lokendra abusing her incessantly brought a screwdriver, from which he hit Kanchan’s private parts. In his indiscriminate attacks, the chair on which Kanchan was sitting broke. Then, he went to the bedroom and brought a pillow which he pressed on Kanchan’s mouth and began to beat her to death.
She fainted in the attack and when she regained consciousness, she saw him sleeping in the bedroom.
He called a neighbor using an intercom and asked him to come for help. Kanchan’s sister-in-law along with her neighbor reached and rescued her from the flat.
They took her to Sola Civil Hospital in an ambulance and later she was shifted to Asarwa Civil Hospital. When he was discharged from the hospital, he along with his brother and sister-in-law approached Bhopal Police and lodged an FIR against Lokendra.
Bopal Police Inspector DN Patel said that on Saturday, the accused was arrested and a case has been registered on the charge of attempt to murder.
