Several celebrities have come out in open support of Malayalam actress Bhavna Menon, who yesterday (January 10) spoke about the humiliation she faced for years after she was allegedly sexually assaulted. They took to their official Instagram profile and re-shared Bhavna’s post. Actors Tanushree Dutta, Zoya Akhtar, Mohan Lal, Mammootty, Nivin Pauly, Dulquer Salmaan, Tovino Thomas and others have come out in support of the female actor who was sexually assaulted in 2017.

Mohanlal shared Bhavna’s Instagram post on his Instagram story and captioned it as “Respect.” Mammootty did the same with the caption, “With you.”

Dutta said she admires Bhavna’s “flexibility” and also mentioned her husband Naveen that he is providing her. She wrote, “I especially admire her resilience and must credit her husband as well as her friends for their support because of such viciousness for young women without a strong emotional and financial support system.” It is impossible to continue fighting.” Tanushree further wrote about her own experience after speaking and said that she had to “move on to build her broken psyche, life and career,” adding, “I had no one to take me away.” loved me so much to stand by me and provide me with the real tangible support I needed. I only had people who wanted to see me struggle and fail so that I could support them in their eternal misery!” Tanushree then revealed that she is tired of “negativity and anger” among other emotions.

She wrote, “I had already spent a large part of the 12 years after 2008 feeling low, anxious, sad, angry and depressed.” She also said that she has been taking medication for chronic anxiety for the past two years and only now feels “normal and like herself.” She continued, “For years after the Horn OK Please incident, I was unable to take and keep a job because of my anxiety, depression, and PTSD.”

“I was not going to live like that for the rest of my life and fight for nothing so I decided to ignore it and focus on my health and work again. This matter always caused serious anxiety and stress. Called and it was ruining my health. I wasn’t getting anything out of it and it was just a huge media feed. Anyway I never had that much faith in the justice system and with an old case maybe It is the result. That’s why I rested in peace!” Tanushree continued. Speaking about the witnesses in her case, she said that they were coerced and silenced. “There was no point in fighting when someone didn’t want you to win.”

In September 2018, Dutta had alleged that veteran actor Nana Patekar misbehaved with her on the sets of ‘Horn OK Please’ during the shooting of a special dance number for the film in 2008 and filed an FIR against her. However, Patekar had denied all the allegations.
