Bhavna Menon breaks silence on alleged assault involving actor Dileep; Prithviraj showed solidarity

Malayalam actress Bhavana Menon on Monday (January 10) took to social media and broke her silence on the alleged assault case involving actor Dileep. She wrote of her journey from a victim to a survivor in an Instagram post. She wrote, “It has not been an easy journey. The journey from being a victim to a survivor. For five years now, my name and my identity have been buried under the weight of the attack on me.”

“Although I am not the one who committed the crime, there have been many attempts to humiliate, silence and isolate me. But in times like these I have few who have stepped forward to keep my voice alive Now that I hear so many voices speak for me, I know I am not alone in this fight for justice.”

“I will continue this journey for justice to prevail, to punish the wrongdoers and to ensure that no one else undergoes this kind of test again. To all who stood by me – your love Heartfelt thanks for that,” she concluded.

Several celebrities including Nimisha Sajayan singer Chinmayi Sripada, Prithviraj, Geetu Mohandas, Parvati Thiruvothu, Anna Ben and South Industry producer Supriya Menon expressed their solidarity with the actress. Indian media and police had concealed Bhavna’s name, identity as per Indian law.

Bhavna was allegedly abducted and molested in Kerala’s Ernakulam district when she was on her way back home from a film shoot on February 17, 2017. A gang forcibly got into his car and molested him inside the vehicle for two hours. Malayalam actor Dileep is being told as the main accused in this case.

On the work front, Bhavna was last seen in the Kannada film Govinda Govinda. The actress has been in the industry for over two decades and has won two Kerala State Film Awards and a Filmfare Best Actress Award (South).
