After receiving a complaint from the Union Home Ministry, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids in several cities of the country on Tuesday. The raids were conducted in violation of the Foreign Contribution Regulating Act (FCRA) 2020. 2 crore sent from hawala have been recovered in the case. So far 10 people have been detained. Of these, five are government employees. According to CBI, investigation is being done against 12 NGOs.

In the case of FCRA i.e. Foreign Contribution Act, this operation was carried out in about 40 places including Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Coimbatore, Mysore to nab NGOs, touts and employees of Home Ministry who took bribe. All of them are involved in the alleged violation of FCRA and giving clearance by taking bribe.
